Whether young adult, new adult frankly any age at this point I believe any can find enjoyment from this series. The mature audience may not see much depth to the characters but the read would be on the light side for when you just want something relaxing to read.I enjoyed the story arc and depth of the world she created. It was truly different in how those with special powers did not think of themselves as humans and tried to keep apart from them as well. The characters did gain more dimensions facets through the series but for a more mature audience could have been so much more. The same could be said for the story arc, there was a lot a surface but not that much depth. It felt that we only saw a bit of the ice burg under the waters edge yet we knew there was so much more we were not seeing.
I do not believe this takes away from the entertainment value of the series in any way. I know my level of reading is much more mature and I can be fully honest I was ready for a bit of lightness and this truly fit the bill. The story itself is dark in nature and yet it is one that you would feel comfortable sharing with your teenagers. I believe it would be one of those times that would offer special moments of sharing time that can and will always be remembered.

Another wonderful book in the series. I loved reading this series as it is unique in it's treatment of the different kinds of beings involved in the plot. There is nothing like it around. Highly recommend and I hope the series continues indefinitely.
perfect ending of the series, although I wish there were more books in the series to read. they are very well written, exciting, and you feel like you are a part of the characters lives as they play out their roles in the book. Awesome!

This final installment of the series was truly amazing. Emily and her sister, the profit, are faced with certain death from the ancients. I did not believe they could be saved. Logan turns out too be quite powerful and is the anchor to saving them.
The book was great and I spent a couple of nights up reading. Couldn't get my fill of the action written. This book, as well as the entire series, is nothing but something wonderful. It's a must read and I will continue to follow Melissa Wright.
Another reviewer mention that the characters were never developed as much as they could have been.That and the fact that the "Prophesies" is never actually revealed. There is mystery and intrigue keeping you on the edge of their seat but somehow doesn't answer all the questions the reader has acquired.
...but I can't. It was..OK, but I had a hard time getting into it. I felt like I was starting in the middle of the story and a whole lot was missing. Who the hell are the 7 families? Who are the "Shadows"? Why do they exist? Are they mages or some kind of alien? The whole backstory would help to understand why the characters were doing what they did and help explain the Series of books.
I have to say that this book was a bit of a mess, even more so than the last one was. It's frustrating because there is this grain of suspense laced through the book that makes you want to keep reading to find out what happened even though the whole plot/book is flawed. Very unsatisfying. Anyway, the book is extremely confusing. Throughout the book, you have no idea who the prophecy is referring to. Powers come out of nowhere, without any kind of explanation other than connections were being awakened. Wesley's power is odd. Callan makes absolutely no sense, and is never explained. We don't understand the bond? between logan/brianna. I don't know who these ancients or shadows are, or what they want, or why. Basically this book is some fighting, which is usually resolved magically within a matter of a few lucky seconds, and a ton of questions, none of which are answered. So sad!
